Topic ♥ 8:36 PM
I think I'm going to do The Effect of Gatorade Vs. Water on a Teenager's Pulse Rate while Exercising. It seems like the most reasonable one to do so I think I'll just go with that.

I decided to narrow my list down to 3 options:
1. The variation of air pollution during the week
2. The effectiveness of Blu tack on holding up a poster in dry conditions
3. The Effect of Gatorade Vs. Water on a Teenager's Pulse Rate while Exercising
Air Pollution
Independent Variable: The days on which the amount of pollution in the air is measured
Dependent Variable: The amount of air pollution
I was thinking of trying out an idea I came across on some website where you could just use 3 sheets of paper and some petroleum jelly, which I think is the same as vaseline. You smear two of them with vaseline and tape them to the outside of a window in the morning on a sunny day. You then take one of them down at the end of the day and compare it to the third sheet (the clean one) and you keep both sheets. You then take the other sheet down after a week has passed and you compare all three of them.
So I was thinking of somehow adapting that method and making some minor changes to it so that it would measure the amount of pollution in the air every day of the week and I could compare them that way. But I'm not too sure on how I will actually be able to tell whether there is any difference because the differences could be really really small...
Blu Tack
Independent Variable: The conditions
Dependent Variable: The effectiveness of the Blu Tack
I have no idea really on how to do this one, but sure that I would need to conduct my experiment in a place where the conditions are not similar every day, which might mean that I would have to do it outdoors...
Gatorade Vs. Water
Independent Variable: The liquids (gatorade and water)
Dependent Variable: The changes of the pulse rate after consuming the 2 liquids
For this experiment, I might need to find some friends to run on a treadmill or just make the subjects do step ups or something and do the experiment on separate days. I'll use 250mL's of one liquid and give it to them to drink, then I'll have them sit down for 1-2 minutes and take their resting pulse before making them run. Then, I'll have them run for 5 minutes and record the pulse rate of each one and then repeat for water.

Topics ♥ 3:37 PM
Some topics that I have considered doing:
1. Something to do with Environmental Science e.g:
- Whether air pollution varies during the week and if so, how much.
- Investigations of relations between C02 and warmer temperatures (global warming)
- How organisms respond to changes in the environment
- The effect of trash and garbage on the environment
- Which method is the most effective for treating water for chemicals, heavy metals and bacteria?
- Does the amount of moisture in the atmosphere vary from place to place?
- How soil management affects soil quality
- What causes landslides
- Why the ocean is salty
- Whether the depth of the ocean affects its temperature
- Which Apple Type Changes in Sugar Content Most After Removal From Cold Storage?
- The Effect of Gatorade Vs. Water on a Teenager's Pulse Rate while Exercising
- The Effect of Shampoos on the Tensile Strength of Hair
- How effective is sunscreen in undercover makeup or moisturizers versus regular sunscreen?
Or Just some Miscellaneous ones e.g:
- Effectiveness of Blu Tack on holding up a poster in hot dry conditions
- What conditions keep a balloon maximally inflated for the longest period of time?
- How good are we at hearing one voice in the crowd?
- Eyes and the ability to judge distances
- Eggshell strength and organic eggs
- Design an effective smoke alarm for the deaf
I like the Blu Tack one and the sunscreen one =]
