I think I'm going to do The Effect of Gatorade Vs. Water on a Teenager's Pulse Rate while Exercising. It seems like the most reasonable one to do so I think I'll just go with that.

♥ 5:04 PM

I decided to narrow my list down to 3 options:
1. The variation of air pollution during the week
2. The effectiveness of Blu tack on holding up a poster in dry conditions
3. The Effect of Gatorade Vs. Water on a Teenager's Pulse Rate while Exercising

Air Pollution
Independent Variable: The days on which the amount of pollution in the air is measured
Dependent Variable: The amount of air pollution

I was thinking of trying out an idea I came across on some website where you could just use 3 sheets of paper and some petroleum jelly, which I think is the same as vaseline. You smear two of them with vaseline and tape them to the outside of a window in the morning on a sunny day. You then take one of them down at the end of the day and compare it to the third sheet
(the clean one) and you keep both sheets. You then take the other sheet down after a week has passed and you compare all three of them.

So I was thinking of somehow adapting that method and making some minor changes to it so that it would measure the amount of pollution in the air every day of the week and I could compare them that way. But I'm not too sure on how I will actually be able to tell whether there is any difference because the differences could be really really small...

Blu Tack
Independent Variable: The conditions
Dependent Variable: The effectiveness of the Blu Tack

I have no idea really on how to do this one, but sure that I would need to conduct my experiment in a place where the conditions are not similar every day, which might mean that I would have to do it outdoors...

Gatorade Vs. Water
Independent Variable: The liquids (gatorade and water)
Dependent Variable: The changes of the pulse rate after consuming the 2 liquids

For this experiment, I might need to find some friends to run on a treadmill or just make the subjects do step ups or something and do the experiment on separate days. I'll use 250mL's of one liquid and give it to them to drink, then I'll have them sit down for 1-2 minutes and take their resting pulse before making them run. Then, I'll have them run for 5 minutes and record the pulse rate of each one and then repeat for water.

Some topics that I have considered doing:

1. Something to do with Environmental Science e.g:
2. Something to do with Earth Science e.g:
3. Something to do with Medicine or Health e.g

Or Just some Miscellaneous ones e.g:
Credits to Ms. Zhang for ideas.
I like the Blu Tack one and the sunscreen one =]
